Bellagio and the Gardens of Villa Melzi

Bellagio, the Pearl of Lake Como, is a must for those who visit the lake for the first time. Lose yourself in the characteristic alleys of the village and let yourself be overwhelmed by the breathtaking view that you can admire from Punta Spartivento is a stunning experience. A short distance away you can reach the entrance to the Gardens of Villa Melzi, in neoclassical style with lush gardens dating back to the early 1800s. The park, one of the most beautiful in Italy, contains a wonderful botanical path dotted with ancient trees, exotic plants, and rare flowers. The visit includes the chapel, the small museum, and the park where beautiful groups of azaleas and rhododendrons frame magnificent statues.

BY BOAT: 40 minutes cruising from Domus Plinii on board a private motorboat admiring the villas, villages and the most suggestive views of Lake Como.
BY CAR: Bellagio can be reached in 30 minutes by car along the Via per Bellagio heading north. Limited parking in high season and during weekends.

Villa del Balbianello and Villa Carlotta

Villa del Balbianello, famous for being the set of Star Wars and 007 movies; Villa Carlotta, known for the wonderful botanical garden that surrounds it and the breathtaking view of Bellagio.
These Villas are among the most majestic on the lake and are definitely worth a visit. The best time is the spring flowering of rhododendrons and azaleas, but the gardens offer unique emotions and sensations all year round.

BY BOAT: 30 minutes cruising from the dock in front of Domus Plinii. Reaching Villa del Balbianello by lake is an unforgettable experience.
BY CAR: perched on the Lavedo peninsula, on the opposite shore of the lake, it takes at least 1 hour by car to reach Villa del Balbianello. From there continue north to Villa Carlotta.
BY FERRY: navigation toward Bellagio, stop Cadenabbia. The dock is a few steps from Domus Plinii. Check here the timetable.

Hiking off the beaten path

Faggeto Lario - Monte Palanzone - Faggeto Lario | distance: 14 km - total route: 7,5 h
From Faggeto Lario, follow the mule track of the Via Regia to Palanzo, then follow the track with two tracks for cars until the crossroads. Follow on the right to Bocchetta Palanzo. From there take the ridge to reach the summit of Monte Palanzone [1433 m above sea level]. From the summit the panorama is amazing.

Brunate - Faggeto Lario | distance: 8 km - total route: 5 h
Take the funicular to Brunate and continue along via Roma and via Nidirino. Past the sports field, take Via Regia, the ancient Roman road that connected Como to Bellagio. Follow for Montepiatto and then for Bocchetta di Lemna.

Greenway - from Sala Comacina to Cadenabbia | distance: 10 km - total route: 6 hours
Immersed in the beautiful natural landscape of the western shore of Lake Como, the Greenway is a pleasant walk suitable for everyone. Disembarking at Isola Comacina by boat or boat, you will cross the villages of Ossuccio, Lenno, Mezzegra, Tremezzo and Griante along the Antica Via Regina.

Como, city of Shopping & Culture

Small and pleasant to visit on foot, Como boasts a fascinating architectural structure, full of ancient buildings, small squares teeming with life, lakefront boulevards where you can stroll in peace, but also unmissable tourist attractions and many boutiques for shopping. From Piazza Cavour, the beating heart of the city, one enters the characteristic medieval alleys to reach Piazza San Fedele and Piazza Volta, among prestigious shops and boutiques; then, one heads towards the lake and, walking along Lungo Lario Trento, the promenade offers a beautiful view of the Lario and the hill that is home to Brunate with its funicular. The walk continues west to Villa Olmo, east to Villa Geno. Do not miss the Duomo, Porta Torre and the medieval walls.

BY CAR: Como city is 20 minutes by car from Faggeto Lario. Park your car in the various car parks scattered throughout the city and enjoy a day of shopping and culture in the pedestrian streets of the old walled city.
